Online Therapy
Online individual therapy is conducted similarly to in-person treatment. It has the same potential for effectiveness as in-person interactions. Many clients now prefer this "new" approach to therapy because it saves them a significant amount of time on their commutes and gives them the freedom to keep working with me wherever they are. Clients also feel more comfortable meeting online, especially in the wake of Covid-19. Some may find it comforting to get therapy in the privacy of their own homes.
The advantages of online therapy include:
How does it work?
At the initial meeting, we will talk about how we might collaborate. For instance, having a clear objective to strive toward or a more flexible agreement to process feelings that may be blocked could be examples of this. During our initial meeting, we can also go over any issues you have with the online approach.
The same principles apply to online and in-person therapy. It is still feasible for a therapist and a client to develop a secure therapeutic alliance. You may want to alternate between online and in-person sessions, or you may want to meet in person at some point during the therapy to get to know each other, but then continue online if that is more convenient for you. Whatever your requirements are, we can work together to find a solution. The format remains unchanged, with a weekly 50-minute session. The same rules of confidentiality also apply.
What do I need to get started with online therapy?
I will send you a link to the session ( on your chose platform) by email, once we have decided to begin online therapy at the prearranged time and date.
1. Ensure you have a stable internet connection.
2. You should choose a place where you will not be disturbed and where you feel safe.
3. Get something to drink (coffee, water or tea).
4. Find a comfortable seat for your session.
5. If you are using a device other than the one you are using, turn it off.
6. Ensure there is enough light in the room.
7. If possible, use your headphones.
8. Please frame your head and upper body so that I can see you clearly, and place your device so that it can remain still.
My main focus is always on the client and their challenges.
